Kingston Pharma, LLC recalled bottles of DG Naturals Baby Cough Syrup + Mucus sold at Dollar General stores across the country. The medication may be contaminated with a bacteria.

The product comes in a white carton labeled DG/Health Baby Cough Syrup + Mucus and contains a 2 oz. bottle marked with Lot KL180157. The affected products have an expiration date of Nov. 2020 on the bottom of the carton and feature UPC Code 8 54954 00250 0.

The cough syrup, for infants two months of age and older, has the potential to be contaminated with Bacillus cereus. Bacillus cereus in food products has the potential to produce vomiting and diarrhea, although more serious and even lethal cases have occurred.

The recall was issued after tests revealed the presence of Bacillus cereus in the cough syrup. Production of the product has been suspended while the FDA investigates.
